七夕☆Tanabata

July 7th was Tanabata!
On the night of every year July 7, Japanese hung Tanzaku, strips of paper wrote wishes, and decorations in bamboo leaves, and we pray to star.
Tanabata is also the day Vega and Altair meet once a year. I introduce the story this time.


７月7日は七夕でした！
7月7日の夜に、願いごとを書いた短冊や飾りを笹の葉につるし、星にお祈りをします。

そして、七夕は織姫と彦星が年に一度再会する日です。今回はその物語を紹介します。

"Vega and Altair." 

Vega was a virtuoso of weaving and lived in the West Coast of the Milky Way. Altair was a cowherd and he lived in the East Coast of the Milky Way.
Vega's father recommended marriage to them and they married.

天の川の西岸に住む機織りの名手である織姫と、東岸に住む牛使いの彦星は、織姫の父親の天帝のすすめで結婚します。

However, they were so deeply in love with each other that they ended up neglecting their duties. Vega's father was angry about it and he made them separate as punishment.

しかし、二人はあまりに仲睦まじく、仕事をしなくなってしまいました。

これに怒った天帝は、天の川を隔てて二人を離れ離れにしてしまいました。

However, they also didn't work because of sadness.

しかし、今度は悲しみに明け暮れて働かなくなってしまいました。

Then, Vega's father allowed to meet them one another once a year if they worked hard.
On the night of July 7, Vega an Altair can meet again.  

仕事に励むことを条件に、七夕の夜に限って再開することが許され、7月7日の七夕の夜、織姫と彦星は「再会」という願いをかなえます。

子供達のお願い事（＊＾＾＊）

So, Japanese write a variety of wishes with strip of paper, and decorate bamboo leaves to come true their wishes like Vega and Altair.

人々は「二人のように、願い事がかないますように」と、短冊に色々な願い事を書いて、笹や竹の葉に飾ります。

Moreover, there is also a custom "Tanabata nagashi (Sasa nagashi)" floating the decorate bamboo to the river and the sea after the Tanabata. It is said that wish come true if the decorate bamboo reach the Milky Way. 
In my hometown, it have been carried out. ( Of cause, it was collect later.)

七夕の後、七夕飾りを川や海に流す「七夕流し」という風習もあります。
七夕飾りが天の川まで流れ着くと、願い事が叶うと言われています。
私の地元でも、七夕流しを行っていました。（もちろん、ちゃんと後で回収します）
