One of the surprises was a newspaper soon after I arrived in the U.S. There are 3 reasons.

到着して間もないころに驚いたものの一つが新聞紙です。その理由について3点あげます。

1. SHAPE
The Japanese newspaper is more wide than the American one.

In the jam- packed trains of the Tokyo metropolitan area, we can see the scene of people bending newspapers so as not to be am obstacle to their surroundings. I also saw this when I went to university in Japan. In this regard, American newspapers seem easier for because they usually have more space in their public transit in which to read.

１、形
日本の新聞紙はアメリカの新聞紙よりも幅が広い。

日本の首都嫌悪満員電車内では、新聞紙を半分に折り曲げて、周りの人に邪魔にならないようにして、新聞を読んでいる光景が見られます。私も通学中によく見たものです。（＾＾）アメリカの新聞紙はその点で、日本の電車通勤者によさそう！

2. THE WAY OF DELIVERY
The American newspaper is placed in a vinyl bag and put outside the front door casually.
It isn't put into a mailbox. The Japanese newspaper is placed in a vinyl bag only on a rainy day and into a mailbox.

２、配達方法
アメリカの新聞紙はふくろに入って、玄関前に無造作に置かれている。

メールボックスには投函されないよう。日本の新聞紙は、雨の日のみ袋に入っていて、メールボックスに投函してあります。

3. THE WEATHER COLUMN
The weather column in an American newspaper is quite detailed.

American can know not only the national weather and temperature with illustration, but also international weather, waxing and waning of the moon, high and low of tides, and sun schedule and planets! On the other hand, the Japanese newspaper has only small weather column, like below the pictures.

３、天気予報欄
アメリカの新聞の天気予報欄はとても細かい。

そのため、国内の天気や気温をイラストで知ることができる以外にも、海外の天気や月の満ち欠け、潮の満ち引き、そして太陽や他の惑星のことまでわかります！一方、日本の新聞の天気予報欄は下の写真のように小さいです。
